Rachel Jackson

Rachel Jackson, BA (Hons), AdvCertVPhysio, PGCE, Tellington TTouch® Instructor, CertHydroSA, Canine Acupressure Practitioner, and Dog Trainer, MIRVAP (VP) (ICH), AHPR, is a versatile professional with a passion for enhancing the lives of dogs and their guardians. Her career started in education as a primary school teacher, where she derived immense joy from witnessing the "aha" moments on children's faces. However, a pivotal shift occurred when Rachel and her husband adopted a fearful, reactive lurcher, sparking an even greater interest in dog behaviour and well-being. Immersing herself in a comprehensive two-year dog trainer and behaviour course, Rachel realised that she needed additional tools to help her lurcher Fionn's anxiety around other dogs. The breakthrough came with the discovery of the Tellington TTouch® Training Method, a gentle and respectful approach that focuses on the body, mind, and spirit of animals. This method became a transformative force for Rachel, significantly improving her relationship with her dogs, particularly the anxious lurcher, Fionn. Driven by a desire to address the connection between behaviour changes and physical health issues in dogs, Rachel returned to university, qualifying as a Veterinary Physiotherapist in 2018. Under the banner of "Well Balanced Animals," she is devoted to helping dogs achieve physical, emotional, and behavioural balance for a happier and more fulfilling life alongside their guardians. Currently working as a Veterinary Physiotherapist and Tellington TTouch® Instructor, Rachel provides personalized one-on-one sessions and teaches nationally and internationally. Incorporating Tellington TTouch® Training techniques, she guides dogs in her care to move with greater balance, heighten proprioceptive awareness, and foster relaxation, enabling them to engage more cooperatively during sessions. Residing in the North West of England with her husband, Jay, and their sighthound family—lurcher Idris and greyhounds Amaya and Harrison—Rachel openly acknowledges her passion for sighthounds. Her personal and professional journey reflects a steadfast commitment to creating a harmonious bond between humans and their cherished canine companions while ensuring the dogs are as mobile and fit as possible.
